All my creations are designed and manufactured by me using PETG, a durable material – more modern than wood!

The Chalet nest box is a semi-open shelter designed to provide a safe nesting site for garden birds that nest in semi-open cavities, such as the robin, black redstart, spotted flycatcher, or blackbird.

Its main functions:
Spring nesting: It provides a protected space where birds build their nests, lay their eggs, and raise their chicks, sheltered from harsh weather and predators.

Winter thermal refuge: During the cold season, it allows small garden birds to find shelter from wind, rain, and frost.

A gardener's natural ally: By hosting a brood (which consumes up to 500 insects per day), it helps you naturally control garden pests without any chemical products.

The Chalet birdhouse offers two mounting options, depending on your surface:

Wall or post mount (screws): It attaches using 2 screws on the back for a perfect hold on a wall, fence, or wooden post.

Tree mount (strap kit): If you prefer to install it on a trunk without drilling or damaging the bark, use our strap kit. It slides into the slots provided on the back of the birdhouse for quick, secure, and plant-friendly installation.

To ensure optimal occupancy, install it away from prevailing winds and out of reach of predators.

The "Le Chalet" birdhouse mainly attracts semi-cavity nesting species, i.e., birds that look for open recesses to build their nest rather than a closed cavity with a small entrance hole:

• European Robin
• Black Redstart (and Common Redstart)

• White Wagtail

Ideally, install it in a quiet, semi-shaded area sheltered from prevailing winds (facing East or South-East) to optimize your chances of welcoming a brood in the spring!

To provide the best conditions for the birds and maximize your chances of occupancy, here are the key rules for installing your Le Chalet birdhouse:

Orientation: Ideally facing East or South-East, sheltered from prevailing winds, driving rain, and direct afternoon sun.

Height: Placed between 1.5m and 3m above the ground, on a wall, post, or tree trunk, out of reach of cats and predators.

Location: In a quiet spot in the garden, slightly clear to allow for easy flight, but near bushes or vegetation where parents can land to observe before entering.

Attachment: Secure and stable (it must not sway in the wind), using the screws or the strap depending on your support.

Ideally, install it from late autumn or winter: birds will shelter from the cold inside and locate it in advance for the spring breeding season!

The nesting box can be used year-round, but its role changes with the seasons:

In spring and summer (breeding season): This is its main function. From March to July, birds build their nests, incubate their eggs, and raise their chicks inside.

In autumn and winter (thermal shelter): From November onwards, birds (robins, tits, etc.) use it as a refuge to protect themselves from frost, wind, and rain during cold nights.

Ideal advice: Install it at the end of autumn or during the winter. This way, the birds will use it to shelter from the cold while scouting the location in advance to nest there as soon as spring arrives!
