Description

The Island – Floating Waterer for Bees & Pollinators

Make life easier for pollinators by offering them a fresh oasis during hot summer weather and water shortages.
The Island is a low-tech, eco-designed, reusable floating waterer, designed to simply rest on the surface of any body of water (saucer, tray, basin, or bird bath).

Designed to let just enough water filter through without submerging, it provides a vital resource that doesn't evaporate too quickly and remains constantly accessible.

Advantages of The Island:
Anti-drowning safety: Its channels and cells, adapted to the size of insects, allow them to land easily and drink peacefully without getting their wings wet.

Natural buoyancy & great stability: Its large footprint gives it excellent hold on the water's surface, regardless of the container's level.

Versatile & ready-to-use: Placed directly on the water's surface, with no assembly or fastening required.

Eco-designed & durable: Robust artisanal manufacturing designed to accompany the garden through the seasons.

Features:
Ideal for: Bees, bumblebees, butterflies, dragonflies, and other useful garden insects.

Dimensions: 20 × 20 × 0.2 cm

Use: To be placed directly on the water in a tray, saucer, or basin.

Information

Material:
All my creations are designed and manufactured by me using PETG, a durable material – more modern than wood!

Durable: resists sun, rain, and frost without damage.
Hygienic: easy to clean, no mold or parasites.
Design: lightweight, strong, and aesthetic, with a modern style.

I chose to make my creations from PETG because, unlike PLA (which some sellers use), PETG perfectly withstands climatic conditions such as humidity, heat, UV rays, and frost...

Ultra-resistant outdoors: Fears neither frost, rain, nor summer sun (unlike PLA, which deforms in heat).

Healthy & hygienic for wildlife: Smooth and non-porous surface, ultra-easy to wipe clean to prevent disease transmission.

Professional durability: A technical and unbreakable material designed to stay outdoors all year round, season after season.

Zero maintenance: No need for varnish, stain, or chemical treatments toxic to birds.

The electricity for manufacturing is supplied by solar panels during the day and by decarbonized energy for the rest of the time!

Have a question?

What is the "The Island" bee drinker for?

The Island is a floating drinking trough designed to provide safe access to water for bees, bumblebees, butterflies, and dragonflies. It floats directly on the surface of any body of water (cup, container, basin, birdbath) and serves as a landing platform, allowing insects to quench their thirst without any risk of drowning.

How does it work?

• It relies on the principle of surface tension and buoyancy:

• It constantly stays on the surface of the water, regardless of the container's level.

• Its cells and channels allow just enough water to surface for insects to drink.

• Its surface offers an ideal gripping area for their legs to stay dry.

What animals does it attract?

The Island is suitable for all beneficial small garden wildlife:

Bees (domestic and solitary)
Bumblebees
Butterflies
Dragonflies
Other small pollinating insects and garden beneficials.

Where should I install the bird bath for best results?

Installation: No fasteners or assembly required. Simply place it on the surface of the water.

Ideal location: Place your basin or bowl in the shade or partial shade, near your flowerbeds, vegetable garden, or close to pollinator pathways.

When should I use it?

In spring and summer: install it at the first signs of good weather in spring (April-May) and leave it in place all summer until autumn, to cover the entire period of pollinator activity.

During heatwaves: Its use is absolutely essential during heatwaves and summer droughts, when natural water sources dry up and the needs of bee colonies are at their highest.
