Description

Water trough for bees and other insects' water bottles.

Make life easier for bees by offering them a water point to quench their thirst with the summer heat and the current severe water shortage. The trough screws directly onto a plastic water or soda bottle.

Designed to empty gradually, water is not wasted and does not evaporate thanks to its multiple thin channels; water flows out slowly as bees drink.

Advantages
- Screw system: attaches securely to a bottle
- Wide base: its large footprint gives it good stability
- Bee-friendly: channels adapted to the size of bees allow them to land and drink without getting wet or drowning
- Reusable and durable

- Ideal for: Bees, butterflies, bumblebees

Dimensions: 16 x 19 x 1.4 cm

It transforms a simple bottle into a practical low-tech water trough perfect for bees and other insects who want to refresh themselves with water.

Information

Material:
All my creations are designed and manufactured by me using PETG, a durable material – more modern than wood!

Durable: resistant to sun, rain, and frost without deteriorating.
Hygienic: easy to clean, no mold or pests.
Design: lightweight, strong, and aesthetic, with a modern style.

I chose to make my creations from PETG because, unlike PLA (used by some sellers), PETG perfectly withstands climatic conditions such as humidity, heat, UV, and frost…

The electricity for manufacturing is supplied by solar panels during the day and by decarbonized energy for the rest of the time!

Have a question?

What is "L'Alvéo" bee watering station used for?

L'Alvéo provides a vital and safe water source for bees and other pollinators in your garden.

During heatwaves and high temperatures, water becomes a scarce and essential resource: bees must constantly bring it back to hydrate themselves and cool their hive. Thanks to its textured, honeycomb-shaped design, L'Alvéo allows them to land and drink safely, without any risk of drowning.

How is it attached?

The Alvéo attaches very simply by screwing: you just need to turn a standard plastic water bottle upside down and screw it directly onto the central neck provided in the heart of the platform. Then place the whole assembly level on a flat and stable surface (low wall, garden table, terrace edge) near your flowers.

What animals does it attract?

Although primarily designed for bees (domestic and solitary), L'Alvéo attracts a wide variety of pollinators and beneficial garden insects looking for a safe watering spot, including:

Bumblebees: Hard workers who also need a lot of hydration, especially in hot weather.

Butterflies: They can easily land on the honeycomb structure to drink safely.

Other small beneficial insects: Such as ladybugs or hoverflies, which can enjoy this shallow water reserve without any risk of drowning.

Where should I install the bird bath for best results?

Near flowers: Place it very close to your flowerbeds, planters, or vegetable garden so that bees can easily spot it when foraging.

In the shade or partial shade: Avoid direct full sun to prevent the water from heating up too quickly and evaporating visibly. A shady spot will keep the water cooler for longer.

Sheltered from the wind: Install it in a calm spot protected from drafts to offer insects a serene landing and resting area.

On a flat and stable surface: Place it level (on a low wall, garden table, or tree stump) so that the water distributes evenly across all the cells.

When should I use it?

Spring and summer: Fill and install L'Alvéo from the first warm days of spring (April-May) and leave it in place all summer until autumn, to cover the entire period of pollinator activity.

During heatwaves: Its use is absolutely essential during heatwaves and summer droughts, when natural water sources dry up and the needs of bee colonies are at their highest.
