The Silo – 1L Glass Bottle Hanging Feeder

Make feeding garden birds easier with The Silo! Designed to transform a simple glass bottle (juice, milk, etc.) into a self-filling and elegant bird feeder, this module continuously dispenses seeds cleanly and without waste.

Thanks to its progressive flow, seeds remain protected from the elements in the bottle and automatically flow into the tray as birds feed.

Advantages of The Silo:
• 360° Circular Perch: Offers a wide landing area allowing several birds to perch easily and feed safely.

• Self-filling & Anti-waste Dispensing: Seeds flow naturally as the tray empties, preventing overflow and protecting food from rain.

• Strong & Suspended Attachment: Equipped with a retaining collar and a robust suspension for easily hanging the bottle from a branch or hook.

• Eco-designed & Durable: Give a second life to your glass bottles to create an aesthetic, resistant, and reusable feeder year after year.

Artisan crafted: Made with care to withstand outdoor conditions.

Technical specifications:
• Compatibility: Standard 1-liter glass bottles (juice, milk, etc.)

• Usage: Sunflower seeds, wild bird mixes, small seeds...

Information

Material:
All my creations are designed and manufactured by me using PETG, a durable material – more modern than wood!

Durable: resists sun, rain, and frost without damage.
Hygienic: easy to clean, no mold or parasites.
Design: lightweight, strong, and aesthetic, with a modern style.

I chose to make my creations from PETG because, unlike PLA (which some sellers use), PETG perfectly withstands climatic conditions such as humidity, heat, UV rays, and frost...

Ultra-resistant outdoors: Fears neither frost, rain, nor summer sun (unlike PLA, which deforms in heat).

Healthy & hygienic for wildlife: Smooth and non-porous surface, ultra-easy to wipe clean to prevent disease transmission.

Professional durability: A technical and unbreakable material designed to stay outdoors all year round, season after season.

Zero maintenance: No need for varnish, stain, or chemical treatments toxic to birds.

The electricity for manufacturing is supplied by solar panels during the day and by decarbonized energy for the rest of the time!

Have a question?

What is "The Silo" bird feeder for?

The Silo is a clever module designed to transform a simple glass bottle (such as a 1-liter juice or milk bottle) into a hanging, self-sufficient, zero-waste bird feeder. It fulfills two key functions:

Self-sufficient and continuous feeding: It automatically dispenses seeds as birds eat, while keeping them dry and protected from the elements inside the bottle.

Secure access for birds: Its 360° circular perch offers a stable and unobstructed landing spot, allowing multiple birds to land and feed peacefully.

How is it attached?

The dispenser attaches very simply by screwing: just turn a standard glass water bottle upside down and screw it directly onto the central neck provided in the heart of the platform.
Hang it with a rope attached to the collar or place the entire unit level on a flat and stable surface (low wall, garden table, terrace edge) in the shade near your flowers.

What animals does it attract?

The Silo is specially designed to accommodate small garden birds (passerines). Its circular perch and cup size are ideal for:

• Tits (great tits, blue tits, crested tits, etc.)
• Robins
• Sparrows
• Greenfinches, chaffinches, and goldfinches
• Nuthatches

It provides a safe feeding point for small birds while preventing larger predators from feeding.

Where should I put the bird feeder for best results?

To provide a safe and attractive place for birds, here are the golden rules for placing The Silo:

High up and out of reach of predators: Hang the feeder at least 1.50 m to 2 meters from the ground, ideally on a tree branch or a wall mount inaccessible to cats.

Near vegetation cover: Place it 2 or 3 meters from a bush, hedge, or tree. This allows small birds to quickly take refuge there at the slightest danger, while observing the feeder before landing on it.

Sheltered from bad weather: Choose a location sheltered from prevailing winds and rain, ideally oriented south/southeast to enjoy the morning sun.

A clear space: Make sure no obstacles block the direct view around the feeder so that birds can monitor their surroundings while they feed.

When should I use it?

The Silo is ideally used during the cold season and transitional periods:

In autumn and winter (from November to March): This is the main period. Natural resources are scarce and birds expend a lot of energy to maintain their body temperature. This is when feeding is most beneficial to them.

In early spring (until the end of April): Occasional support can be provided during late cold snaps, when insects have not yet fully emerged.

In late spring and summer: It is recommended to stop feeding seeds. Birds then find their natural food (caterpillars, insects) essential for raising their chicks. At this time, you can replace the feeder with a water point.
