The Atoll – Hanging Waterer for Standard (1L) Glass Bottle

Transform a simple glass bottle into an elegant, self-sufficient, and sustainable water source with L'Atoll! Designed to reuse your 1L bottles (juice, milk, etc.), this handcrafted module allows garden birds to quench their thirst cleanly and safely.

Thanks to its progressive flow system, the water remains clean inside the bottle and automatically refills the cup as birds visit.

All my creations are designed and manufactured by me using PETG, a durable material – more modern than wood!

I chose to make my creations from PETG because, unlike PLA (which some sellers use), PETG perfectly withstands climatic conditions such as humidity, heat, UV rays, and frost...

The Atoll is a handcrafted system designed to transform a 1-liter glass bottle (juice or milk bottle type, T048 neck) into a self-filling water fountain for the garden.

It fulfills several essential functions:

• Provides a continuous supply of fresh water: Its flow system automatically regulates the water level in the bowl as birds drink.

• Ensures a safe drinking pause: Its 360° circular rim allows birds to perch comfortably and survey their surroundings while drinking.

• Protects visitors' health: Water stored in the bottle remains protected from dust and fallen leaves, limiting bacterial proliferation compared to a simple bowl placed on the ground.

• Recycles with elegance: It offers a useful and aesthetic second life to your empty glass bottles.

The Atoll is very simply fixed by screwing: just turn a standard glass water bottle upside down and screw it directly onto the central neck provided in the heart of the platform.
Hang it with a rope fixed to the collar or place the entire unit level on a flat and stable surface (low wall, garden table, terrace edge) in the shade near your flowers.

Thanks to its elevated suspension and 360° basin, The Atoll offers a safe watering hole for a variety of small visitors:

Garden birds: Tits, robins, sparrows, finches, greenfinches, and nuthatches... Its circular perch provides a stable and comfortable support for drinking while keeping an eye on their surroundings.

Pollinating insects: In summer, bees, bumblebees, and butterflies use the edges of the basin to quench their thirst without risk of drowning.

Arboreal wildlife: Suspended in a tree, it can occasionally help squirrels or small acrobatic rodents (dormice, garden dormice) that move in the branches.

Bonus tip: Bottled water stays clean longer and suspending it out of reach of the ground protects birds from cat attacks.

To offer a safe, popular, and pleasant watering spot for birds, the ideal location follows three golden rules:

In shade or partial shade: Place it out of direct sunlight. This keeps the water cooler for longer, reduces evaporation, and limits algae formation in the glass bottle.

Close to vegetation (shrub, hedge, tree): Install it approximately 2 to 3 meters from a bush or a branch. Birds like to be able to quickly take refuge there in case of danger while observing the watering spot before descending.

Out of reach of predators (especially cats): Suspended from a sturdy branch or support at least 1.50 m to 2 m from the ground, it offers a clear 360° view, allowing birds to spot danger immediately.

Bonus tip: Choose a spot clearly visible from your windows to fully enjoy the daily spectacle!

All year round! Unlike feeding, which is mainly limited to winter months, water is a permanent vital need for garden wildlife.

• In summer (crucial): During heatwaves and droughts, natural ponds and puddles dry up. A water source then becomes a vital resource to prevent dehydration in birds and pollinating insects.

• In winter: When temperatures drop, natural water freezes. A bird bath allows birds to drink and maintain their plumage (essential for maintaining their thermal insulation against the cold).

• In spring and autumn: During breeding season and migrations, birds expend an enormous amount of energy. Having a fresh water source available greatly facilitates their lives.

Seasonal maintenance tip:

• In summer: Change the water regularly to keep it fresh and prevent mosquito breeding.

• In winter: If temperatures become very negative, temporarily remove the glass bottle to prevent it from cracking due to frost, or fill it with lukewarm water in the morning.
