The La Canopée feeder is specially designed to provide a secure and sheltered feeding point for garden squirrels.

Thanks to its transparent reservoir, it stores and protects sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, and walnuts from the elements, while allowing you to easily check the food level.

Its large landing platform offers the squirrel a stable space to perch, feed in complete tranquility, and bring your garden to life every day.

La Canopée offers two simple and practical mounting options:
• On a tree or post: using its adjustable attachment strap, which allows for easy installation without drilling or damaging the bark.
• On a wall or partition: directly via two screws using the designated slots.

The La Canopée feeder is primarily designed to accommodate the red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris), the only indigenous squirrel species found in metropolitan France. It may also be visited by other small arboreal rodents such as the garden dormouse or the hazel dormouse if they are looking for seeds.

To maximize your chances of spotting them, fill the reservoir with hazelnuts, shelled or unshelled walnuts, sunflower seeds, or pine nuts.

To quickly attract squirrels and provide them with a secure feeding spot, prioritize these location criteria:

• At a height: Mount the feeder at least 1.5 to 2 meters off the ground on a tree trunk to keep the squirrels out of reach of terrestrial predators like cats.

• Near travel routes: Choose a tree that is wooded or connected to a network of branches so that the squirrels can easily access it without having to travel too much in the open on the ground.

• Quiet and sheltered: If possible, orient it away from prevailing winds and direct rain. Avoid areas with heavy human traffic.

• Visibility from your home: Place it facing a window (living room, kitchen) to fully enjoy the spectacle without disturbing them!

The Canopée can be used all year round, with two key periods:

• In autumn and winter (main period): This is the season when natural food (hazelnuts, beechnuts, acorns) becomes scarce. Supplementary feeding is valuable in helping squirrels build up their reserves and survive cold spells.

• In spring and summer: Squirrels remain active and raise their young. Providing a regular supply of seeds and nuts helps support nursing females and encourages squirrels to stay in your garden.

Simply be sure to slightly reduce the quantities in summer to encourage them to maintain their natural foraging behavior.
